Request Medical Package
The package is created for patients who have suffered a heart attack or undergone heart surgery and patients with angina pectoris with low functional ability prevail. Upon arrival, the patients examined by cardiology specialist who also performs any necessary additional tests which help determine the level of safe physical exercise. In this way, the level of physical exercise is determined individually and patients are able to manage it with regular physical activity without any significant risk to the health.

 Conditioning exercises and relaxation therapy
Rehabilitation includes appropriately dosed guided exercises to improve the physical condition and relaxation therapy. Relaxing massage, individual exercises and bike, Burger exercises and pain relief electrotherapy are carried out. Therapies are supplemented by diet nutrition and health education. The effect of the rehabilitation programme is monitored by an interim and final examination.

Package includes:
  • 7 nights in Šmarjeta 4* with halfboard
  • unlimited entrance to the therme
  • examination by a specialist
  • stress testing
  • three individual treatments per day ( relaxing massage, brushing, Vacusac – hypobaric therapy, Burger exercises and pain relief electrotherapy)
  • one group treatment per day

Cardiovascular disease is caused by a pathological process in the walls of the blood vessels (arteriosclerosis), which starts slowly and
unnoticeably and leads to narrowing of the blood vessels. Early detection of the risk of developing the disease enables the physicians to begin the treatment in the phase when the disease is still reversible and hasn’t caused any irreparable changes in the walls of the blood vessels.
Cardiology diagnostics has come a long way in the recent years as the new technological possibilities enabled by the ultrasound examinations are highly non-invasive. This means they don’t affect the patient’s wellbeing, while at the same time they are extremely precise and enable the cardiologist to precisely estimate the level of blood vessel or heart defectmand thus formulate an effective treatment plan and monitor its results.

The following diagnostic services are carried out at the clinic:
 Stress testing
Complete ergometric test for assessing functional heart capacity is carried out on a bicycle (bicycle ergometer), treadmill or manual ergometer. Prior to the examination an internist examination, heart ECG and lung function measurements are necessary. The examination
shows potential presence of the coronary arterial disease, at the same time it provides important information on the blood flow, physical ability, blood pressure fluctuation, heart rate fluctuation in the aerobic stress phase and reveals any potential heart rhythm
disorders.

Heart ultrasound
The ultrasound of the heart enables a detailed examination of the heart chambers, heart valves and the pericardium. The examination
is painless, non-invasive and completely harmless. It is necessary in case of suspected cardiomyopathy; it helps with planning further
diagnostic procedures and treatment.

Carotid Doppler ultrasound
This examination enables a detailed inspection of the blood vessel walls, during which we can establish potential changes, i.e. thickening
of the walls that may result in a stroke. We recommend this examination to patients with a high level of cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Holter monitoring – blood pressure
A 24-hour interval measurement of blood pressure on the upper arm by day (every 15 minutes) and at night (every 30 minutes) detects blood pressure changes and is of key importance for determining the suitability of treatment and its potential corrections.

Holter monitoring – heart activity
This is a 24-hour measurement of the heart activity by electrodes positioned on the chest and linked to a device the patient carries in his or her bag. The patient records into the diary all the potential problems that occurred during the measuring process. When the physician analyses the whole recording, he or she determines potential irregularities of the heart activity, blockades in electrical impulse conduction, or heart circulation disorders, and potential activities that might cause the above problems in the heart function.

Peripheral arterial Doppler sonography
Doppler arterial sonography of the lower extremities is carried out in people with weaker arterial pulse at palpation and those with a
suspected significant arterial narrowing in the lower extremities. This examination may help us determine the probable location of the narrowing (thigh or shin artery), and then a suitable treatment follows. Persons at risk are referred to an angiology clinic for invasive diagnostics (arteriography).

Peripheral venous Doppler sonography
This is an image examination carried out by ultrasound that shows the anatomic status of the venous vascular system, the blood flow velocity in the veins and the function or condition of the venous valves and potential disorders (in order to establish why a person has cramps, pain, problems with swelling or heavy legs). We recommend this examination to people with heavy and swollen legs or visible varicose veins and to those with a family history of cardiovascular diseases.
